On Tuesday night, April 19, 2011, as it was becoming time for most people to enter deeper stages of sleep, Mississippi County was rudely awakened by the sound of sirens whaling that a tornado warning had been issued in the southern and central parts of the county. Among the municipalities included in the warning were Wilson, Keiser, and Osceola.
These towns and others were indeed hit by high winds and unconfirmed tornadic activity. Multiple structures and buildings were damaged or destroyed. Thankfully, we praise God in saying that no lives were lost in this storm. However, widespread power outages are still across the area and Harvest Baptist Church is in the outage.
The Arkansas Baptist State Convention disaster relief teams have been deployed in Mississippi County using Harvest Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church of Osceola as command centers in relief efforts. We ask for your prayers and support in this effort to support the communities affected.
We still encourage and invite you to be awakened this Easter, and not by another tornado warning. The Easter morning service will happen this Sunday at 11 am. Come to Harvest Baptist Church and hear a practical message that will help you weather the storms of life. For the uplifting of your spirit, inspirational music will be included in the service. Once again, Easter service WILL happen at 11 am Sunday morning as scheduled.
